One such attraction is the annual Estate Romana Festival, or Summer Festival. Held each year between June and September, the festival is a showcase of Roman and Italian arts and culture. Classical music, jazz and rock are all musically featured during the events of the festival, and visitors can hear this music in various outdoor venues and amphitheatres throughout the city.

In addition to music, film and theatre are also featured throughout the festival schedule. Movies and plays are showcased all through the city, many times in very unique locations. Movie screens are set up in parks, and the steps of churches and buildings are often turned into impromptu stages.

The popular theatrical and musical productions are staged at well-known archeological sites in the city, including the Ostia Antica ruins, along the River Tiber and the Baths of Caracalla.

Those taking a summer break are sure to enjoy the variety of events and choices that Rome has to offer visitors. In addition to arts, culture and museums, the city boasts an impressive number of Italian ristorantes and trattorias – meaning you’ll never go hungry in this land of great food!
