Almost every part of the world has its museums, and this also applies to Tuscany. Villas in this region of Italy allow people to arrange holidays and explore the area and visit many of the museums they find along the way. If you are planning a holiday in the region, consider the following suggestions - these are some of the best museums to see while you are there.

The Archaeological Museum in Florence
Otherwise known as the National Archaeological Museum, this is one of the top must see museums in all of Tuscany. Villas should be booked with this in mind, so you don't have to journey too far to come and see it. It was originally opened in 1888 and it features some amazing artefacts, including a complete Egyptian section that is second only to the collection in Turin. You can visit the Archaeological Museum and be whisked back to prehistory, to discover the masterpieces herein.
The Museo Civico in Siena
Translated as the Civic Museum in Siena, this is another delightful highlight of Tuscany. Villas in the region will make it easy to reach the centre of Siena to see a history of art that is indicative of Siena itself. Don't miss the frescos that can be found in the Sala del Mappamondo among other locations. You will find the entrance to the Museo Civico in the Palazzo Pubblico, which is, in itself, a stunning sight.
The Museo di San Marco
You can visit museums with a very interesting past in Tuscany. Villas can be booked on the outskirts of the Renaissance city of Florence where you can visit the Museo di San Marco. The museum itself once housed a convent, and it is now home to one of the most impressive sacred art collections in the city. It originally opened in 1869, but its history as a convent goes back a lot further than this.
The Uffizi Gallery
Some may regard this as an art gallery rather than a museum, but it is strictly the latter as well as the former. There is much to see here, which is why it is one of the most renowned in Italy. There are two main wings separated by a small courtyard, with one end facing the River Arno. There is a jaw dropping selection of paintings to be viewed here, including The Birth of Venus by Botticelli, The Adoration of the Magi by Leonardo da Vinci, Bacchus by Caravaggio and the Doni Tondo by Michelangelo. You will also be able to see sculptures dotted around the museum as you wander around.
This region undoubtedly holds a huge place in history and has contributed greatly to the world of art. No matter where you are staying in the region you will never be far from a handful of museums to while away an afternoon in.
